Victory Pro Wrestling returned to St James for VPW Higher Ground and to say things went out of control is an understatement.
Cain Industries def. Security Inc
- Adam Cain and Anthony Gangone came out with Silk E Smooth to represent Cain Industries.
- Officer Ronnie Moses and Guard Dog Malcom Murray gave Cain Industries a run for their money, but with Silk E Smooth causing a distraction, Cain and Gangone stole the win
TOP CONTENDERS MATCH FOR THE NEW YORK STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Leo Sparrow def. Jay Delta and Bobby Orlando
- Bobby Orlando dedicated the match to Aaron Rodgers and then tried to enlist referee John Ryan as a tag partner when Bobby Orlando realized it would be a two-on-one encounter.
- The legend of Jay Delta lived up to the 17 years of experience he brings to the table but Leo Sparrow used spinach to gain an advantage. (It didn’t work)
- With action inside and outside the ring, it looked like Bobby Orlando was ready to pick up the win but Leo Sparrow shoved him off the top rope and stole the victory with a moonsault to take out Jay Delta.
“Shadowbanned” Jack Tomlinson def. The King of Sass Jordie Sparkles
- Jack Tomlinson lead the crowd to a “Happy Birthday” to one of our loyal fans Bodhi before chastising the fans for singing.
- Jordie Sparkles brought a unique acrobatic style to the ring to give Tomlinson a challenge until Tomlinson started to work on Sparkles’ arm.
- Tomlinson became more frustrated and then snapped before finally putting away Sparkles with a Subscriber Stomp
Pat Fitz Patrick vs Phil Cardigan
- Phil Cardigan started off strong but a miscue gave PFP a chance to take control.
- Cardigan fought back valiantly, but it was his own coffee mug that did him in as PFP used it to pick up the win.
- After the match, PFP went to go for a piledriver to take out Cardigan but Dr Cool stormed the ring to make the save and attack his former partner.
- Security came out to break up the attack
VPW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Champions The Even Stevens (with Johnny Collins) def. The Rat Bastards
- Since invading VPW, The Rat Bastards have been on a tear. Given the opportunity to rise to the top, they still had to meet the Even Stevens.
- The champions had a challenge but were able to overcome after Security Inc’s music blared and the champions took advantage.
- After the match, Security Inc came out from the back and attacked the Rat Bastards until they battled to the back.
5-MINUTES MATCH
Silk E Smooth def. Alvin Alvarez
- After defeating Adam Cain at VPW Blood Sweat and 17 years, Alvin Alvarez was given a chance to finally get his hands on Silk E Smooth in the ring
- With the bell started and the count down beginning, Silk tried to stay away from Alvarez, but that did not last long. Cain Industries member KJ Mack jumped the guardrails to shock Alvarez, and Smooth hit Alvarez with a low blow.
- KJ Mack kept Alvarez from going after Smooth, and as the countdown ran down, the bell rang to signify the end of the contest.
- With Adam Cain and Anthony Gangone flanking Smooth, Alvarez turned his attention to Mack. Gangone went to go help his partner, but Cain held him off.
NEW YORK STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Champion Dezmond Cole def. Evil Kip Stevens
- The once lovable “Tough Nerd” showed what he was made of as Evil Kip Stevens challenged for his first championship opportunity in VPW
- Dezmond Cole finally took over the momentum to pick up the victory and retain the championship.
- Leo Sparrow came down to the ring and shook the hand of the champion before leaving the ring. After a hesitation, Sparrow jumped into the ring and attacked Dezmond Cole’s knee until security and the officials were able to pull Leo to the back.
VPW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
Champion Valentina Vasquez def. “Megastar” Brittnie Brooks
- Brittnie Brooks, who has been on AEW, set to make her VPW debut a megastar one and capturing the VPW Women’s Championship.
- Valentina Vasquez had a hard time keeping up with the challenger. Brooks kept out pacing her throughout the match, but a miscue from the top turnbuckle allowed the champion enough to recover and steal the win by holding the ropes when the referee counted to three.
VICTORY PRO WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Bryce Donovan def. Champion Eric James via Disqualification
- Donovan earned the right to face Eric James at a top contenders match in April.
- In a match that defines everything a main event is all about, Donovan took Eric James to the limit. Inside and outside the ring, the two clashed with the determination to show who the true champion in VPW is.
- Jack Tomlinson came to the ring and grabbed the VPW Championship, then used it to attack Eric James. The champion ducked, so instead, Jack attacked Bryce Donovan. When Jack went to attack Eric James, the champion pulled out a water gun. Jack backed off to head back to the locker room, but Bryce Donovan was waiting for him. Donovan threw Jack back in the ring, where Eric James sprayed Jack with his water gun.
With another great night in the books, VPW Management has their work cut out for them after the multiple issues in the ring with security on over-time.
