Champions fight their way to the top of the division. Valentina Vasquez proved to be Karen Bam Bam’s toughest challenge, so she earned a second chance at the VPW Women’s Championship. Jack Tomlinson fought his way through wars with Kaide Lothbrok before finally challenging for the Victory Pro Wrestling championship. And a boyhood dream Dezmond Cole had to become New York State Champion, watching one of his favorites win the championship only to be the one to take the title away from Eric James. They all earned the right to be champion.
But every year, Victory Pro Wrestling throws a special event that can ruin the protectory of the standard wins and losses. The Gold Rush Rumble allows anyone the chance to change their path and grab their own opportunity.
This year, the winner of the 20-plus over the top rope Gold Rush Rumble event will get the opportunity to challenge for any current, reigning Victory Pro Wrestling championship. The winner can challenge for the Victory Pro Wrestling championship… the New York State championship… the VPW Women’s championship… or they can call a friend to join them and challenge for the VPW Tag Team Championships.
The first ever New York State championship was decided in 2009’s Gold Rush Rumble. In 2014, the New York State championship was defended.
Former Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champion Ricky Reyes won in 2010. VSK won in 2011 and in 2016, being the only two-time winner. Mister Tibbs would cash in his victory in 2018 to become Victory Pro Wrestling champion, and a year later Coach Mammone would do the same, beating Mister Tibbs.
Originally announced as a 20-competitor contest, owner John E Radioo has advised VictoryProWrestling.com that we may have a few more people in this year’s event.
