The rise of Coach Mammone came from his first match when he debuted in 2018. He slowly gained momentum, almost won the 2019 King of New York, and earned the right to challenge VPW Champion Mister Tibbs after winning the 2019 Gold Rush Rumble.
Johnny “Pretty Boy” Collins teamed up with Bryce Donovan to capture the VPW Tag Team Championships after two months after they debuted in 2018. Collins hovered near prominence since he joined Victory Pro Wrestling, always the talk of the show.
Before they debuted in VPW, Coach Mammone and Johnny Collins were a tag team, Alpha Psi. They were not just partners in the ring but on the road, training together and building each other up.
During the pandemic, Coach Mammone was interviewed and showed respect for his friend. Meanwhile, Collins lost touch with his former partner. Calling out the VPW Champion, asking where Mammone was while he was right there.
It’s very possible that Johnny Collins will call out the VPW Champion Coach Mammone at VPW 145: Never Forget, Saturday September 11 in St. James, but that’s not a guarantee.
In fact, four winners of the Gold Rush Rumble challenged for the VPW New York State Championship. VSK chose Mister Tibbs to challenge for the VPW Tag Team Championship. And on two occasions, the VPW New York State Championship was on the line in the Gold Rush Rumble.
Collins is a former VPW Tag Team Champion. The opportunist could challenge Eric James for the New York State championship. At “Never Forget” September 11 at the Sports Arena, we will hear from the 2021 Gold Rush Rumble winner as he plans on letting the wrestling world know what his future goals in VPW are.
