Victory Pro Wrestling’s “Spring Fever” blew the roof off the VFW Hall in Centereach with another standing-room-only sold out crowd and excited the fans, but left them with more questions than answers.
Amazing Red was supposed to face Ricky Reyes in a best 2 out of 3 falls match, but Conflux made sure that didn’t happen. Kai Katana challenged K-Fresh for the New York State title, but the question of whether he is better than Kevin Fulton is still left unanswered.
It all started with the VPW ring announcer John E Radioo welcoming the fans, and while he was going to share the news that Victory Pro Wrestling has a new VPW Champion, the former champion Kevin “MISTER” Tibbs, flanked with his “Apostles” Dorian Graves and Jacob Hendrix, interrupted him and then proceeded to tell the fans to grant him a rematch for what he said was his VPW Championship by voting for him to face VsK at the Fans Choice show on May 18 in Deer Park.
EJ Risk def. Dr. Lamar Braxton Porter (w/ Nasty Nick Lecter)
The larger Porter was able to control the match but EJ Risk, frustrated after losing the King of New York tournament, kicked out of Conflux, and then losing last month to Jay Delta, took his frustrations out on his opponent to pick up the win.
King of New York Jay Delta def. “Man of Faith” Brian XL
He said he would clean the filth from Victory Pro Wrestling, starting with EJ Risk last month. Last night he proceeded to do the same with Brian XL, but not without a fight. Brian XL had several close calls, but somehow Delta was able to hit his spinning discus forearm to knock his opponent out for the three count.
VICTORY PRO WRESTLING TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
Da Hou$e Party (c) def. Razzle Dazzle/Destructico (w/ Grop the Caveman)
In their second opportunity against the VPW Tag Team Champs, Razzle Dazzle and Destructico showed a little bit more unity, though Destructico did seem to be a little confused when the two of them came to the ring together with Grop the Caveman. Whatever they did to become a better team wasn’t enough though, as Da Hou$e Party pulled out all the stops to pick up the win.
After the victory, though, Kevin “MISTER” Tibbs and Dorian Graves came out, with Tibbs demanding a title match since he will already be granted the VPW title match as he believed the fans would grant him a match next month. With that logic, he wanted to become the first double champion by taking the tag titles this month, and the VPW title next.
VICTORY PRO WRESTLING TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
Da Hou$e Party (c) def. Kevin MISTER Tibbs and Dorian Graves (w/ Jacob Hendrix)
The champs accepted the challenge, and even though they just wrestled a match they went toe to toe in their second title defense. Graves and Tibbs worked well together, but Graves took a beating in Da Hou$e Party’s second win of the night.
TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS MATCH
“The Cuban Crippler” Ricky Reyes against Amazing Red: No contest
In what was supposed to be a two out of three falls match, Amazing Red was in control and ready to take the first fall when Jay Delta came back to the ring and attacked Red. Both Delta and Reyes inflicted punishment on Amazing Red, ending with a vicious double powerbomb, rendering Amazing Red unable to compete further.
Brian XL came to the aid of his best friend, and EJ Risk came out to challenge his former Conflux brother later on that night, as he said the fans came to see a Two out of Three Falls match.
NEW YORK STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
K-Fresh Kevin Fulton (c) against Kai Katana: Double Count-Out
Kai Katana won the right in a Number 1 contender’s match last month against Johnny V, and this month he aimed to become the new New York State Champion. K-Fresh, the longest reigning New York State champion, wasn’t ready to let his reign end just yet. In a grueling battle, it looked like both K-Fresh and Katana were unable to overcome each other. K-Fresh countered a Katana moonsault with two knees to the chest, and Katana was able to roll out the ring after being hit with the Freshmaker.
Fulton saw blood, but his weakened opponent was outside the ring. Wanting to finish the job, K-Fresh followed his opponent outside the ring. Katana was waiting for him and unleashed an attack, sending the champ reeling. As Katana was climbing back in the ring to avoid the count out, Fulton tackled him, leaving both of them outside for the double count out.
TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS MATCH
EJ RIsk def. “The Cuban Crippler” Ricky Reyes
Before the main event started, ring announcer John E Radioo announced that with the overwhelming votes from the fans earlier in the night, Victory Pro Wrestling signed the specialty match for Fans Choice in Deer Park May 18, giving the fans what they wanted with a ladder match. He then announced that instead of one of the championships above the ring, it would be the Crown of the King of New York up for grabs, and that Jay Delta would face the challenge of EJ Risk!
But first, EJ Risk stepped up to give the fans what they came to see, a two out of three falls match. Both Reyes and Risk already wrestled a match, and the fans were behind this main event from bell to bell.
Reyes dominated the first fall, with EJ just unable to keep up with his former Conflux brother. Reyes connected with a powerbomb and cradled the legs for a pin to go up first in the match. The dominance wouldn’t last as EJ Risk would bring the match in and out the ring, eventually pinning the “Cuban Crippler” and taking the second fall.
The third and final fall was intense, and the two turned it up against each other. Seeing the end of the match near, Reyes hit another powerbomb and cradled the legs for a three count, except this time EJ kicked out, surprising Reyes. Eventually, Risk was able to his a springboard kick to pick up the win.
