When Johnny “Pretty Boy” Collins made his debut in Victory Pro Wrestling, nobody thought the scrappy performer would amount to more than a mid-card challenger. It’s this kind of mindset that drove Collins to work harder than anyone in the locker room and prove the nay sayers wrong.
He formed a tag team with Bryce Donovan and became VPW Tag Team Champion in 2018. The Fast and Furriest held on to those titles until April of 2019, and Johnny Collins ended up feuding with Donovan until the beginning of 2020.
When the New York State mandates were lifted in 2021, Johnny Collins had a new goal; be the top dog in Victory Pro Wrestling. Again, that’s an accomplishment that he could never get because of his size and to be VPW Champion? You need more than that. Which is what drove him to fight harder and be more devious than he had ever been in his career.
At the 2021 Gold Rush Rumble, Johnny Collins was eliminated from the match and VsK had earned the right once again to challenge for any championship in Victory Pro Wrestling, but the officials were distracted by the chaos that ensued on the other side of the ring after Kaide Lothbrok was eliminated. Collins entered the ring before any of the officials had noticed he was eliminated, dumped VsK over the top, and stole the Gold Rush Rumble victory away from the first ever Triple Crown champion in VPW.
Johnny Collin’s new target: Coach Mammone and the Victory Pro Wrestling championship. His best friend, his brother in arms, his first tag team partner. Mammone was on top of the world, and Collins wanted to knock him off and be the new champion. He tried, stole the championship, but was caught cheating when he dropped a chain he was holding to grab the VPW Championship. The official reversed his decision and disqualified Collins, and VPW Commissioner Kevin Fulton told the almost-champ that if he wanted another shot at the 2021 Disorderly Conduct event, it was his… but it would be his last chance at Mammone’s championship.
Johnny Collins became champion, defeated his best friend, and drove Mammone mad. Knowing he was cheated, Mammone offered to challenge in a rematch, putting his career on the line against Collins to get back what he earned, deserved, and cherished. Which would mean that Mammone would be winning the title again, except that drove Collins even harder to be better than Mammone and keep the title he stole.
Now, Johnny Collins has his sights set on becoming the sixth ever VPW Triple Crown Champion, and the first to join the exclusive club since 2018. To do so, he has to beat Dezmond Cole, the current VPW New York State Champion. Collins has challenged him, attacked him, threatened him, and ambushed him. He’s sent others in the ring after Cole, and now it’s time to pay up.
Dezmond Cole is on his way to having the fifth longest VPW New York State championship reign and wants to keep that reign alive. He’s faced tough challenges to get to this point and is not going to let Johnny Collins stand in his way, but he’s tired of the nonsense.
His goal to be the longest reigning VPW New York State Champion is not an easy task – that mark is held at 588 days by Fighter Cat, and has stood since 2015. Dezmond Cole would have to hold the title through the summer to break that record, but as a fighting champion only time will tell.
First, he has to go through Johnny Collins, who continues to find ways to overcome the odds and win at any cost.
