Dezmond Cole and Percy Ryan used to hit wrestling moves on each other on the way to classed in high school. They decided to join a wrestling school together. They trained together at the gym.
They both joined VPW in early 2019. Percy at the time was “Percival the Third,” while Dezmond was “Notorious.” But behind the curtain, they were inseparable.
During the pandemic, the two continued to work together, teaming with each other in other companies outside of New York State. They built each other up and continued to rise.
But when VPW returned in 2021, Percy had a new attitude. He did not care. Not for the fans, not for the company, and certainly not for his tag team partner, one Dezmond Cole. He disagreed with Dezmond’s partying and fun ways, walking away from him mid-match against Shook Crew, leaving Dezmond to take the loss for the team.
They had a match against each other in VPW, and Percy was able to come up on top. This did not bring Dezmond down, as he was ready for a rematch against his former best friend, but an injury kept that from happening.
Dezmond hurt his knee in training, possibly tearing his ACL. He potentially was out for almost a year. Things were not looking good for his future, and Dezmond was not right in his mind. He needed to stay home, to rehab, and to focus on himself.
Meanwhile, Percy aligned himself with Kaide Lothbrok’s Wolves of Odin so he could steal a win against Adam Cain. Percy has since distanced himself from the Wolves, which may or may not be a good thing. He’s trashed Dezmond cole’s character, and at December’s Devastation during the “Dr Cool Show“, Percy directed a cameraman to get in the ring and to send a message to Dezmond.
What he did not know was the cameraman he was ordering around like a stooge was, in fact, Dezmond Cole. Dr Cool Jay Klang noticed something, called Percy over, who was distracted long enough for Dezmond to connect him with a spear. After some fisticuffs, Percy escaped the ring. Dezmond challenged Percy to a match at Before the Storm, and VPW officials signed this match as a Lumberjack match to ensure both competitors keep the action in the ring.
