It was supposed to be a one-on-one encounter for the New York State Championship. Karlo Vice to challenge Eric James.
The debuting Jarrett Diaz changed that dynamic, as he came to the ring talking about how he wanted to get noticed, and in VPW he felt the fastest way to get noticed was to step in the ring with the New York State Champion.
James would successfully defend the title in the impromptu triple threat match, but afterwards he was attacked by Vice who felt he was robbed of a fair opportunity.
Seeing this action unfold from the staging area in the back was “Da Big Boofa” Dezmond Cole. He witnessed the injustice and rushed to the ring, fighting off Vice and helping James to his feet.
But Cole did not let go. The fans leaned in as Cole grabbed the microphone and talked about how when he was just a kid, he saw “EJ Risk” competing for the New York State Champion. Now after working hard in VPW, he felt it was his time to risk it all and challenged Eric James for the championship at VPW 150: Blood Sweat & 16 Years.
The champion looked to the fans, then back at Cole. With the intensity so thick you could cut it with a knife, Eric James reached out and shook the hand of Dezmond Cole.
And with that handshake, the match was signed – “Da Big Boofa” Dezmond Cole challenging “The Throwback” Eric James for the New York State Championship at VPW 150: Blood Sweat & 16 Years in St James.
What will happen when Victory Pro Wrestling returns to the Sports Arena in St James in February for VPW 150: Blood, Sweat, and 16 Years?
