The steel cage.
Wrestling’s “final battle.”
In what was originally designed to be the end-all match to settle major feuds, this chaotic structure was designed to keep competitors from escaping their opponents, and to prevent outside interference from managers and partners not involved in the contest.
Over time, the cage evolved. What was once a major spectacle turned into watered down yearly events. Hell in a Cell. War Games. Elimination Chamber. Tower of Doom. You could set your calendar to the turn of when the next big cage match was coming up.
The last time the steel cage was set up in Victory Pro Wrestling was in 2019. Mister Tibbs against Coach Mammone for the Victory Pro Wrestling championship. Then, the cage was to settle the score and keep the Influence from getting involved after holding back Coach Mammone from becoming VPW’s top champion for almost a year.
At VPW’s King of New York in February, Victory Pro Wrestling’s rightful champion, Bryce Donovan, was taken out of action and had his title belt stolen by Delta House. They presented the title to Jack Tomlinson, who claims to never have lost the championship after a controversial finish at VPW Insanity in November.
Rockerboy Nick Robles and Dante Drago from Delta House have been joining Jack Tomlinson in each others matches, claiming to run VPW. Nick Robles is banned from the building and Dante Drago is banned from ringside, per the orders of VPW owner John E Radioo announced at VPW 173: Before the Storm. Also banned from ringside would be Bobby Orlando and the Even Stevens to provide a fair fight.
Even with everyone barred from ringside, the owner decided to up the ante. For the first time in over 4 years, the steel cage monstrosity is back to settle the score once and for all to determine the true Victory Pro Wrestling champion.
Will Bryce Donovan be reclaiming the title belt and continuing his reign? Or will Jack Tomlinson find a way to strike gold for a third time as VPW’s top champion?
