Who is Dante Drago? The Frat Star made his debut in Victory Pro Wrestling in September of 2018 and already has a buzz around him.
His humble beginnings started off in a triple threat match where he didn’t come up with the win but was still able to party with Da Big Boofa Dezmond Cole.
Then in November, Drago won a top contenders match for the New York State Championship in a gauntlet match. Later in the evening he revealed his true colors by teaming up with Kaide Lothbrok and join the Wolves of Odin.
With his new brethren behind him, Drago now faces one of VPW’s most decorated stars, the current New York State Champion Eric James. James’ second reign will meet an impressive 981 days at Devastation.
One of the interesting things to note is that Drago understands that becoming the New York State Champion is a prestigious honor. Recently, VPW Commissioner Kevin Fulton on Twitter acknowledged a classic match between himself and Ricky Reyes for the New York State Championship that took place ten years ago.
“So much history behind the New York State title,” Drago posted. “I can’t wait to take that belt home with me.”
The problem is that he has to go against one of the most dynamic performer in VPW history to do it.
The champion’s last two matches featured an all out brawl in the Sports Arena against Ryan Galeone in October and a wrestling clinic against Mister Tibbs in November.
Both matches took their toll against James, but Eric James successfully defended the title.
Could this be a walk in the park for the champion or will Eric James be underestimating the new kid on the block?
