Since coming to VPW in 2021, Valentina Vasquez has been a fan favorite. She came close to defeating then-VPW Women’s Champion Karen Bam Bam, and in her second attempt she was able to overcome the dominant champion.
Her reign has gone on to be the longest in the VPW Women’s division, and now that she’s reached that mark in the history books, it seems as if “Latina Heat” is starting to show a mean streak.
That’s not to say Vasquez hasn’t vented before. In video promos, she’s shown off a darker side. But at VPW Live Events, the champion is all smiles and high fives.
At VPW Blood Sweat and 17 Years, that changed. The challenger was Dolli Darko, making her VPW debut and challenging Valentina for the top spot in the division. Backstage whispers say the champ was tired of random women coming to meet her without giving her a real challenge.
When asked to confirm these rumors, Vasquez simply told VictoryProWrestling.com, “Why are you asking me such a ridiculous question? What you see is what you get.”
Last summer, her best friend Gabby Gilbert attacked her from behind, challenged for the championship, and failed to win gold. After the match, the two hugged it out, despite having a war in the ring.
Could that have been the turning point?
At VPW’s Higher Limits, the champion will step in the ring with up-and-coming star Brittnie Brooks, who has been featured on AEW and has been tearing up the West Coast.
She’s a total contrast to what Valentina has been bringing to the table. Brooks is making her New York debut in Victory Pro Wrestling and looks to take the championship home with her to Arizona when it’s all said and done.
