The 2024 King of New York took place in Bay Shore with 12 competitors wanting their opportunity to become King in Victory Pro Wrestling and to earn the right to challenge Dante Drago for the New York State Championship!
KING OF NEW YORK FIRST ROUND
BUFFA AAYOOO def. Brother Greatness and The Sensei Dee Vibe (sponsored by the Dirty Heelz podcast)
- The action was hot as Dee Vibe made his VPW debut, and BUFFA AAYOOO made his return to VPW from China.
- The action was hot but a lot of respect between everyone in the ring
- BUFFA picked up the win to advance
KING OF NEW YORK FIRST ROUND
The Artist Jake Lang def. The Voodoo God Bonez and The Igniting Dynamite JJ Doze
- Lang and Bonez tried to work together but that backfired.
- JJ Doze seemed a little bit off in this contest, as he came out without his traditional head gear
- Jake Lang stole the win to advance
VPW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
The Unwilting Tatiana def. Your Homie the Gnomie Gabby Forza
- Before the match started, there was mutual respect and gift giving between Gabby and Tatiana
- Once the match started, the power game belonged to Gabby
- Tatiana was able to outsmart Gabby with a backslide to retain the championship
Victory Pro Wrestling champion Bryce Donovan came out to challenge Jack Tomlinson. He told the standing room only crowd in Bay Shore that Jack was too busy elsewhere.
Delta House and JGeorge came to the ring, stalking the champion, before Stephen Azure and Bobby Orlando came out to make the save, setting the stage for the no holds barred 6 man tag team match later in the evening.
KING OF NEW YORK FIRST ROUND
The Asgardian Beast Kaide Lothbrok def. CEO Adam Cain and El Magnifico
- The action in this match was intense. El Magnifico was the smallest in this contest and outsized by borh Kaide and Cain
- The speed of Magnifico almost gave him the win, but the power and experience by Kaide and Cain kept him at bay
- Lothbrok picked up the win after catching Magnifico with a spear to advance
KING OF NEW YORK FIRST ROUND
Dr Sleep Anthony Gangone vs Alvin vs Da Big Boofa Dezmond Cole
- Tension was in the air as Alvin kept his eye on his former manager Silk E Smooth, who accompanied Gangone to the ring.
- Dezmond Cole had an incredible showing, with Gangone trying to take shortcuts and Alvin using his power to keep in the match
- At the end of the match the former New York State Champion picked up the win to advance to the Eliminator
After the match, Anthony Gangone attacked the leg of Dezmond Cole.
VPW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
Pretty Wild def. The Rat Bastards via DQ
- The Rat Bastards had an easy match as they met Pretty Wild, except Tristian Kyle and Will Strauss had something to prove. The challengers gave it everything they had in this match
- There was a possibility on several occasions for Adam Kirkland and Zander Torres to lose the match, but Cain Industries came out to spoil the match as Anthony Gangone attacked Tristian Kyle.
- Pretty Wild picked up the win, but the Rat Bastards keep the championships.
SIX MAN BRAWL
Delta House & JGeorge def. Shook Crew & Stephen Azure
- The action was out of control as all six men battled outside the ring throughout Pro Game Athletics.
- JGeorge leaped from the barricade onto a prone Bobby Orlando at one point during the match
- The tide went back and forth before finally Delta House and JGeorge picked up the win.
After the match, JGeorge grabbed the Victory Pro Wrestling championship as if it was his. Dante Drago took the title, tried to remind him who it belonged to (erroneously, Jack Tomlinson), as they left the arena floor.
THE KING OF NEW YORK ELIMINATOR
Dezmond Cole def. Kaide Lothbrok and Buffa AAYOOO and The Artist Jake Lang
- Jake Lang attacked Dezmond Cole’s leg early on, sending Da Big Boofa to the back to be tended to by the medical team
- Kaide Lothbrok was eliminated. After his elimination he flipped out and attacked Buffa AAYOOO. This lead to an easy pinfall for Jake Lang.
- As the Artist was celebrating, Dezmond Cole returned to the arena floor
- The action went back and forth between Lang and Cole before Dezmond Cole finally picked up the win
After the match, the lights went dark. Dante Drago appeared in the ring as the lights came back on, and Dante and Dezmond stared each other off to end the night.
