Victory Pro Wrestling returned to Bay Shore in front of a standing room only Pro Game Athletics for VPW 159: Notorious. The show featured a double main event with the Victory Pro Wrestling championship on the line between champion Mike Anthony and challenger Jack Tomlinson. In the other half of the main event Valentina Vasquez defended her VPW Women’s Championship against the debuting Notorious Mimi.
The show started with VPW Commissioner Kevin Fulton and his Assistant to the VPW Commissioner James M Sullivan. Fulton wished the crowd a Happy New Year and announced that due to an injury to Bryce Donovan, he would not be able to compete and as a result, the Shook Crew must vacate their VPW Tag Team Championships. Fulton then announced two qualifying matches that would take place later in the night to find out who will claim the vacated Victory Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championships.
Commissioner Fulton also announced that tonight’s main event between Mike Anthony and Jack Tomlinson would be a two-out-of-three falls match. In addition to the Rat Bastards being banned from ringside, the first fall would be Tomlinson’s choice: a regular wrestling match. The second fall would be held at the choice of the champion: no disqualifications. The third fall, should there be a need for one, would be announced by Commissioner Fulton.
Before Fulton could continue, Eric James interrupted the Commissioner, coming down to the ring and telling Fulton to please shut up. James wants an explanation as to why he doesn’t have a title opportunity here tonight, but Jay Delta, the man who he beat at VPW Disorderly Conduct does. Commissioner Fulton says they will talk in private and work something out.
VPW NEW YORK STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
JAY DELTA vs CHAMPION DEZMOND COLE
Jay Delta makes his way out to the ring first, followed by the champ Dezmond Cole. Delta attacked him from behind prior to the bell even ringing. Cole used some of his versatile offense to take down Delta and gain momentum for himself. However, Delta being the ring general that he is was able to quickly put a stop to any offense by Dezmond Cole.
Cole would try to fight back, time-and-time again, to no avail. Delta was able to catch Cole with a sleeper hold to try to put him to sleep and win the championship. However, Cole was able to fight out of it and unload punches on Delta in the corner. Cole was able to hit his signature spin kick on Delta and followed that up with a suplex. This caused Delta to roll outside of the ring to try and re-group. Cole would go air born however to take Delta off his feet.
Cole rolls Delta back into the ring and pins him for just a two-count. Cole calls for his finisher, but Delta is able to counter and attack Cole. However, this would not last as Cole would quickly regain the upper hand and finish off Delta and pick up the win.
WINNER: AND STILL VPW NEW YORK STATE CHAMPION, DEZMOND COLE
QUALIFYING MATCH FOR THE VPW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
EVEN STEVENS vs. MARVELOUS AND JAFAR
In the first of two qualifying matches tonight, The Even Stevens (Steve Somerset and Stephen Azure) met the team of Marvelous and Jafar. Marvelous and Steve Somerset started out the matches for their respective teams. They locked up in the early going of this match, and displayed some great chain wrestling techniques. However, Marvelous would use his speed and agility to gain the upper hand. Marvelous would tag in Jafar as the two would go to work on Somerset.
Somerset would make his way over to his partner, Stephen Azure. Azure would tag himself in and get in the Jafar’s face. Jafar quickly took the fight to him and tagged in Marvelous. Marvelous would try to attempt a pinfall on Azure but was only able to muster a two count. However, this wouldn’t last long as Azure would quickly go on the offensive.
Azure tags in Somerset and the two hit a double team move on Marvelous. Marvelous would try to fight back and make the tag to Jafar, but it was to no avail. As Marvelous goes for the tag, Azure would cheap shot Jafar, sending Jafar down to the floor off the apron. Somerset would make the tag in and the two would try another double team move, but Marvelous this time would be able to counter and tag in Jafar.
Jafar comes in the match hot and ready to go. He quickly takes down both members of Even Stevens. Jafar would hit one of his big moves on Azure but just managed to score a two-count. Jafar tags in Marvelous as the two looked to end things, but Somerset would make the save. Ultimately, Even Stevens would pick up the win after hitting The Even Flow on Marvelous. The Even Stevens are the first team to advance to the VPW Tag Team Championship match in April.
WINNERS: EVEN STEVENS
TRAVIS JACOBS vs. PERCY RYAN vs. ALVIN ALVAREZ vs. ZAKK RAMSES
This match started quickly as Alvin Alvarez would make a run straight at Percy Ryan. The two would brawl into the back leaving Travis Jacobs and Zakk Ramses alone in the ring. Jacobs and Ramses would start the match off in the ring. It was a solid back-and-forth between the two men. Ryan made his way back out to the entranceway before collapsing with Alvarez standing behind him with a chair.
Ramses and Alvarez would brawl in the ring and Alvarez was able to get the 6’9” man off his feet. Ryan, however, would hit a kick on Alvarez and team up with Ramses to take down one of his biggest rivals in VPW. Jacobs makes the save for Alvarez, but he would quickly get overpowered. Ramses goes for a pin, but Ryan breaks it up.
Ramses hits a colossal chokeslam onto Jacobs and turns his attention back to Alvarez. Ryan and Alvarez stayed on the offensive and this got to look more like a handicap match at times for Alvarez. Ramses would inadvertently, knock down Ryan to the floor while trying to hit Alvarez with a big boot.
Alvarez and Jacobs exchange punches on Ryan back in the ring and get in some double team action of their own. Jacobs would try to turn on Alvarez and pin him, but this only got him a two count. Ultimately, Alvarez would hit his patented big splash onto Ryan to be victorious.
WINNER: ALVIN ALVAREZ
After the match, a masked man jumps Alvin Alvarez. The masked man is revealed to be Adam Cain. Cain leaves Alvarez lying after hitting his finishing move onto a chair. Cain grabs a mic and tells Alvarez that he wants him in a street fight at the next show in April.
KJ MACK vs. BROTHER GREATNESS
The match starts with Brother Greatness trying to pump up the crowd. This more than worked as the crowd loves Brother Greatness. After some back-and-forth chain wrestling, Mack takes down Greatness with a powerful shoulder block. Brother Greatness would do his best to get back into the match and sends Mack flying to the outside. He goes for a dive, but it gets reversed as Greatness collides with the floor.
Brother Greatness is finally able to fight back into the match, again sending Mack to the outside. Greatness goes for the dive again, this time connecting with Mack. After sending Mack back inside the ring, Brother Greatness makes his way to the top rope, but this doesn’t bode well for him.
Silk E. Smooth, who accompanied KJ Mack to ringside, would distract the ref, causing Greatness to lose sight of the task at hand. Mack picked up Smooth’s Cain and knocked Greatness out cold with it. He would then lock in his submission move and force the referee stoppage to win the match.
WINNER: KJ MACK
RAT BASTARDS vs. SECURITY INC.
The winner of this match will meet the Even Stevens at the April VPW live event Blood Sweat and 17 years for the VPW Tag Team Championships. This match started hard, and fast. Security Inc. would charge the ring, and quickly take the fight to the Rat Bastards. All hell breaks loose in the early going of this match as the referee had zero control over anything. Security Inc takes control double teaming both members of the Rat Bastards. When the referee got a handle on things, Moses and Zander Torres would be the two to start the match.
Thanks to an Adam Kirkland distraction, Torres would gain the upper hand over Moses. Kirkland would enter the match and the two would hit a big double-team move onto Moses. Moses tries to fight back, but to no avail. The Rat Bastards would do their best to subdue Moses and it worked for a majority of the match.
At one point, Moses was able to tag Murray, but the referee missed it and made Murray go back to the apron. This opened the door to more double team moves by the Rat Bastards. Moses is finally able to tag in Murray and Murray comes in hot. He takes down both members of the Rat Bastards. He hits a big move onto Torres for just a two-count.
Ultimately, Security Inc. would punch their ticket to a VPW Tag Team Championship opportunity as they were able to come away with the win. At the next show in April, Security Inc. will face the Even Stevens for the vacated VPW Tag Team Championships.
WINNERS: SECURITY INC.
ANTHONY GANGONE vs BOBBY ORLANDO
Anthony Gangone makes his way out first, accompanied by Silk E. Smooth. Gangone grabs a mic and tells the crowd to shut up. He knocks people who were fans of the Shook Crew. He calls Bobby Orlando the weak link of the group, which brings out Orlando.
The crowd goes nuts for Orlando. Gangone was getting annoyed because Orlando’s entrance music would not stop playing. The match begins and it starts off with some good chain wrestling between the two men.
Smooth would quickly make his presence felt as he would distract Orlando and help Gangone take control. Gangone would use a lot of heel tactics in this match to garner heat from the crowd. He even took Bobby’s goat that was given to a little kid and threw it across the venue.
Orlando fights back and hits a neckbreaker on Gangone to regain the momentum. Orlando was able to hit a cutter from the top rope onto Gangone for just a two-count. Smooth would try again to get involved, but ultimately, it would be Orlando who would roll up Gangone for the three-count.
WINNER: BOBBY ORLANDO
GRUDGE MATCH
DELTA HOUSE vs. KAIDE and MR. TIBBS
Mr. Tibbs and Jay Mesias start the match out for their respective teams. Mesias and Tibbs would lock up, where it would look like Mesias would gain the upper hand after forcing Tibbs into the corner. However, Mr. Tibbs would counter this with chops to the chest. Mesias would quickly tag in his partner Nick Robles, as Kaide would tag into the match himself.
One thing to note early on is that Lothbrok and Mr. Tibbs had some problems getting along in this match. Lothbrok would use his power to quickly subdue Robles. Lothbrok hit a massive leg drop on Robles for a two-count. Mr. Tibbs and Lothbrok would continue their assault on Robles while also fighting amongst each other.
However, the tides would switch as Mesias would hit Mr. Tibbs from the outside, helping Robles gain control of the match. Robles and Mesias would continue to beat up on Mr. Tibbs. After trying to fight back into the match, to no avail, Mr. Tibbs would finally be able to hit a running knee on Mesias and tag in Lothbrok.
Lothbrok would come in hot as he would quickly beat down Robles. The ref gets knocked out and Mesias low-blows Mr. Tibbs. Robles brings in Foxy Foxxy to the match, however Megan Mason would make the save. Ultimately, Lothbrok would pin Robles after he and Mr. Tibbs hit a double team move.
WINNERS: KAIDE LOTHBROK and MR. TIBBS
After the match, the four celebrated in the ring, and it looks like Kaide and Mr. Tibbs may just be on the same page. This is a dangerous situation for the Victory Pro Wrestling tag team division.
VPW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: VALENTINA VASQUEZ© vs. THE NOTORIOUS MIMI
Both women make their entrance, and a new championship title is presented to the official as the new Victory Pro Wrestling Women’s Championship with eagle wings and silver plates on a purple leather belt. The old championship is retired and returned to the locker room area as the match starts with some chain wrestling between the two women. Valentina Vasquez is able to momentarily get the better of the Notorious Mimi, but this doesn’t last as Mimi is able to hang Vasquez up on the ropes.
Mimi gained complete control of this match. She hit a leg drop on Vasquez for just a two-count. However, Vasquez would finally be able to fight back into the match, hitting Mimi with a kick to the back, and punches. Vasquez would hit a stunner for a two-count.

Tomlinson continues his onslaught of Anthony, but Anthony is able to fight back, dropping Tomlinson face first on the apron.
It was now Anthony’s turn to be in control of the match. However, this wouldn’t last long as Tomlinson used some evasive maneuvers to evade Anthony. Tomlinson locked Anthony in a submission and forced him to submit, winning the first fall.
WINNER OF FALL #1: Jack Tomlinson
Fall number two was announced to be a no disqualification match. The two men continue brawling on the outside of the ring, with Anthony gaining the upper hand. Anthony attacked Tomlinson with a chair and was in firm control of this fall.
Tomlinson would grab the chair and hit Anthony with it as the two moved into the backstage area. Anthony throws Tomlinson through the curtain and back on to the entranceway. Anthony throws Tomlinson back inside the ring and tries to hit him over the head with his belt. Tomlinson is able to reverse, but this leads to Anthony hitting his finisher on Tomlinson and pinning him to win the second fall.
WINNER OF FALL #2: Mike Anthony
With the match at one-fall per competitor, VPW Commissioner Kevin Fulton would now announce the stipulations for the third and final fall
Fulton announced that the third and final fall would be a winner-take-all, triple threat match. Eric James is introduced to be the third and final participant of this match and we are underway.

Mike Anthony begins to stir on the outside and starts to make his way back to the ring. After more terrific back-and-forth between the three men, ultimately, Eric James would hit his finisher on Mike Anthony to win the match and become the new Victory Pro Wrestling champion.
