Victory Pro Wrestling returned home to Bay Shore’s ProGame Athletics for VPW JUSTIFIED, featuring Kaide Lothbrok challenging Eric James for the Victory Pro Wrestling championship, Leo Sparrow challenging Dezmond Cole for the New York State Championship, and an unholy alliance form.
VPW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
THE EVEN STEVENS (champions) def. TRAVIS JACOBS AND MARVELOUS
- The opening match saw the Even Stevens, accompanied by Johnny Collins take on the team of Travis Jacobs and Marvelous. The matched opened with a great showing by both teams, but it wouldn’t be until the Even Stevens hit a double team move on Marvelous to gain control of the match, thanks to help from Johnny Collins.
- The two teams battled throughout the match, and there was a cool spot where Stephen Azure hit the people’s elbow, and seemingly had the match won. However, Johnny Collins got involved and accidentally distracted the referee.
- Ultimately, Stephen Azure and Steve Somerset each locked in the cobra clutch on both Jacobs and Marvelous to cause them to tap out at the same time. The Even Stevens retained over a very game Marvelous and Travis Jacobs. However, the bigger story here is are the Even Stevens and Johnny Collins on the same page?
DR. COOL JAY KLANG def. PAT FITZPATRICK
- This match saw the implosion of the once great teams at Victory Pro Wrestling, the School of Cool. Dr. Cool quickly took the fight to Pat Fitzpatrick, charging the ring and completely unloading on Fitzpatrick. However, Fitzpatrick sends Dr. Cool into the ring post on the outside to gain control of the match.
- Fitzpatrick continues to beat down his former partner, and the VPW faithful are firmly behind Dr. Cool. Fitzpatrick attempts a high-risk move on Dr. Cool, but Dr. Cool was ready for it this time, and hits a dropkick of his own to ground Fitzpatrick in mid-air.
- Dr. Cool fires up and with the fans firmly behind him, hits a big move for a two-count, as Fitzpatrick was able to get his foot on the ropes. After some more great back-and-forth action, the match ultimately saw Pat Fitzpatrick attempt to choke Dr. Cool out with his own jacket, only to be stopped by the referee. This distracted Fitzpatrick and Dr. Cool was able to set him up for a coast-to-coast, which he hit for the three count.
THE UNWILTING TATIANA def SAMMI CHAOS
- This match featured the return of Sammi Chaos and the debut of the Unwilting Tatiana. Sammi Chaos made her way down to the ring first, followed by Tatiana. Tatiana began to try to take the fight to Chaos, and even used some antics in doing so. However, Chaos proved to be too strong to take down and quickly gained control of the match.
- Chaos remained in control, not letting Tatiana get back into the match. Chaos hits a big headbutt on Tatiana, followed by a clothesline for just a two-count. Chaos wrapped Tatiana up in a bear hug, but let’s her out under her own power to try to inflict some more damage.
- Chaos hit a big slam on Tatiana for just a two-count. After some more great back-and-forth wrestling, Tatiana was able to hit a massive DDT on Sammi Chaos for the three-count and the victory.
CAIN INDUSTRIES def ALVIN ALVAREZ & PERCY RYAN
- In what was originally supposed to be a one-on-one match between Anthony Gangone and Percy Ryan turned into a tag team match when all hell broke loose. Percy Ryan charged the ring and quickly took the fight to Anthony Gangone. However, Adam Cain made the save and as Cain and Gangone beat down Ryan, Alvin Alvarez came to the aid of The Jawline.
- The new match officially begins with Cain sending Ryan shoulder first into the ring post. This would start the beat down of Ryan throughout the match, at the hand of Cain Industries. Cain and Gangone continued to target Ryan’s shoulder throughout the match and did a good job at keeping him from tagging in his partner.
- Percy is finally able to tag in Alvarez, and Alvarez comes in hot and ready to go. He quickly takes the fight to Cain, hitting a big elbow drop for just two-count. Alvarez gets distracted by Smooth, this leads to Gangone hitting him with a cheap shot and leaving him lying on the floor. This leads to Adam Cain using brass knuckles on Ryan and pinning him for the three count.
VPW NEW YORK STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
LEO SPARROW def DEZMOND COLE (champion) via Referee Stoppage ** NEW CHAMPION
- One of the most anticipated matches of the night, the New York State Championship was on the line as Dezmond Cole was set to defend his New York State Championship against a very game, Leo Sparrow. Leo Sparrow makes his way down to the ring first and had some mixed reactions from the fans. A lot of cheers, and a lot of boos rained down. Cole made his way down next, and he didn’t quite have as mixed of a reaction, the fans loved him.
- In the early going of the match, Cole quickly brought the fight to a very ready to go, Leo Sparrow. Sparrow always has something up his sleeve, as he throws Kale into the face of Cole. This distracts Cole enough for Sparrow to take control of the match, by targeting his leg. This distraction would prove to be a fatal one for Cole’s title reign.
- Sparrow continues to target the leg of Cole, and every time Cole tries to fight back, his leg acts up and puts him in too much pain. However, Cole would be able to land a spinning kick on Sparrow, which also simultaneously, took a lot out of Cole, but this kick changed the tide of the match.
- Cole fired up and was able to re-gain some of the momentum in the match. Cole hits a middle rope moonsault followed by his finishing move for just a two-count on Sparrow, as Sparrow was able to reach the ropes. Ultimately, after some more great back-and-forth action, referee Steven Dumeng calls for the bell, as Cole can no longer go. It’s ruled that due to referee stoppage, we have a new VPW New York State Champion, Leo Sparrow.
“SHADOWBANNED” JACK TOMLINSON def BRYCE DONOVAN via disqualification
- Another very highly anticipated match on the night saw Jack Tomlinson taking on Bryce Donovan in a grudge match. These two men clearly don’t like each other, and it showed. The match started off with Donovan playing some mind games, throwing his jacket at Tomlinson to get into his head. Tomlinson put on the jacket that Bryce threw at him and mocked Donovan, to give it right back to him. Tomlinson would waste a lot of time fighting with the fans before finally squaring off with Donovan.
- Donovan would play around with Tomlinson’s selfie stick and phone, which led to Donovan being hung up on the top rope. Tomlinson would land a springboard cutter onto Donovan for a two-count, and we were officially off to the races. However, Donovan would quickly fight back and call for a chokeslam, which Tomlinson would counter with a flip.
- After some great back-and-forth wrestling, Tomlinson held up a Prime drink bottle and mocked Donovan. However, Donovan would grab the drink, and drank it before throwing it outside. Ultimately, Donovan sends Tomlinson into a chair in the corner that Tomlinson set up earlier in the match and got disqualified.
THE EVIL KIP OPEN CHALLENGE
BOBBY ORLANDO def. PHIL CARDIGAN and EVIL KIP STEVENS
- This match very well could have been one of the more surprising ones on the night. Evil Kip made his way down to the ring first to issue an open challenge. At first, it looked like Phil Cardigan was going to answer, but he just wanted to talk to Evil Kip. Bobby Orlando made his way down to the ring next to the roar of the crowd. Orlando accepts the open challenge, and we were off.
- Cardigan tried to play mediator in this match, but it didn’t work. He would square off with Orlando and try to help his ex-partner Evil Kip, but after some antics, Kip gains the upper hand in the match by sending Cardigan to ringside and beating down Orlando in the ring.
- Kip and Orlando had the same idea to hit each other with a running cross body, and this would leave them both lying. This would allow Cardigan some time to drink his coffee and go crazy. Cardigan would accidentally hit Kip with a spinning kick in the process, sending him to the outside. This set up Orlando to hit his finishing move on Cardigan for the three-count.
THE RAT BASTARDS def SECURITY INC
- This match started off quickly. The Rat Bastards would attack Security Inc. during their entrance and would beat them down prior to the match even beginning. The Rat Bastards would hit a double DDT on Murray from the apron to the floor, leaving him lying. The match would finally begin with Kirkland and Moses, but Murray was nowhere to be seen.
- The Rat Bastards continued to take the fight to Moses in what looked to be a handicap match for a good portion. Moses would show some signs of life, and as Zander Torres accidentally kicked Adam Kirkland in the face, this would buy Moses some time.
- Moses finally was able to tag in Murray. Murray came in strong and brought the fight to Torres and Kirkland. All hell would break loose between the two teams and ultimately it would be an accidental spear on Moses by Murray, followed by the Rat Bastards’ finishing move, that would leave Security Inc. defeated.
VICTORY PRO WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP
ERIC JAMES (champion) def KAIDE LOTHBROK (w/ FOXY FOXXY)
- This was arguably one of the greatest main events in recent memory. The match starts off with a fist bump between the two men, followed by a show of respect. Kaide Lothbrok and Eric James would lock up with some solid back-and-forth chain wrestling. James would hit a big cross body on Kaide to get the big man off his feet. This sent Kaide to the outside and he was furious. He threw a chair in the ring, but Foxy Foxxy was able to calm him down and keep him focused.
- Kaide uses his power to get the best of James, hitting him in the back with his big club-like fists. The match spilled out into the crowd, where Kaide would throw Eric James through some empty chairs. Kaide would continue to beat down James all around the ring area. When they finally got back in the ring, Kaide would land a big jackhammer like suplex for just a two-count.
- After some more beat down by Kaide, Kaide yells at senior official Steven Dumeng to call the match like he did earlier in the night, but he won’t. James is able to fight back and unload punches on Kaide. James attempts a Tiger Bomb on Kaide but isn’t able to lift the big man off his feet. James would hit his big ceiling elbow drop for just a two-count.
- Foxy Foxxy tries to get involved and distract the referee and help Kaide, but it was to no avail. Eric James would use a crucifix pin on Kaide to roll him up for the three-count and to retain his Victory Pro Wrestling Championship.
After the match, Kaide hands James the title and they share a sign of respect for each other. However, all hell breaks loose as Jack Tomlinson makes his way down to the ring to attack Eric James.
Just as it looked as Kaide was going to help keep Tomlinson at bay, Kaide turns on James and the two beat down the Victory Pro Wrestling Champion. This leads to Bryce Donovan making the save, and Eric James announcing that at the next VPW show on July 15th, it will be Bryce Donovan and himself taking on Jack Tomlinson and Kaide in a HUGE tag team main event.
