The excitement was hot at Pro Game Athletics as Victory Pro Wrestling presented the Battle in Bay Shore. Leo Sparrow defended the New York State Championship against Bobby Orlando, we started off the Gold Rush Rumble with two “First or Last” matches to determine the two top spot on next month’s marquee match, and the main event featured VPW Champion Eric James teaming with Bryce Donovan to take on Kaide Lothbrok and the Shadowbanned Jack Tomlinson.
FIRST OR LAST FATAL FOURWAY MATCH
Dr. Cool Jay Klang def. Samwell Thompson, Travis Jacobs, and Zakk Ramses
- This match saw the return of Zakk Ramses and Travis Jacobs to Victory Pro Wrestling, alongside the debut of Samwell Thompson. The fans were firmly behind Dr. Cool from the start of the match, continuing to show why he’s one of the fan favorites in Victory Pro Wrestling.
- Thompson began the match by giving a kiss to Valerie Verman who accompanied him too ringside. As soon as he turned around, he was met by a strong right hand from Travis Jacobs and the match was off to a hot start. Things got tense between Jacobs and Ramses, in which Dr. Cool tried to give them both sunglasses to “cool down.”
- The match saw a great back-and-forth contest between all four competitors. Jacobs teamed up with Dr. Cool and Thompson to get Ramses off his feet and out of the picture. Despite a great effort in his debut with Victory Pro Wrestling, it would be Thompson who would fall to Dr. Cool via a coast-to-coast by the coolest cat in Victory Pro Wrestling.
After the match, Dr. Cool gets an envelope with his number in it. He grabs a mic and says he will not open the envelope, because it doesn’t matter to him what number he is. He says he will win the Victory Pro Wrestling Gold Rush Rumble and become the new Victory Pro Wrestling Champion.
EVIL KIP OPEN CHALLENGE
Evil Kip makes his way down to the ring and grabs a microphone right off the bat. The fans let Kip know their feelings about him, by booing him out of the building. Kip calls Phil Cardigan a chicken because he wasn’t able to show up tonight. He says he was afraid of getting his butt kicked by Evil Kip. He then issues an open challenge, which is accepted by Sebastian Amor.
Evil Kip Stevens def. Sebastian Amor
- Amor attempts to give a rose to Kip. However, Kip rips it up and throws it right back at him. Amor then calls for a hug, and Kip attempts to clothesline him, but Amor counters with a dropkick of his own.
- Amor looks great right off the bat, but Kip hits a back body drop that changes the entirety of the match.
- Kip is in firm control of the match until the very end. Amor attempts to fight back, to no avail. Kip hits a running knees on Amor in the corner and seemingly had the match won but decided to break up the pinfall himself. Kip ultimately hits his finishing move to pick up the win with ease
VPW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
The Rat Bastards def. Champions The Even Stevens w/ Johnny Collins ** NEW CHAMPIONS **
- This match saw one of the mainstays in the Victory Pro Wrestling tag team division in the Even Stevens, defend their tag team gold against one of the fastest rising teams in Victory Pro Wrestling, the Rat Bastards. The Rat Bastards get booed out of the building, and the same cannot be said for the Even Stevens, who are now beloved by the Victory Pro Wrestling faithful, alongside Johnny Collins.
- Adam Kirkland and Stephen Azure begin the match for their respective teams. Azure quickly gains momentum, by beating down Kirkland, and tagging in Steve Somerset. The two continue to beat up on the Rat Bastards. Somerset was a little banged up from a dive to the outside, which Kirkland takes advantage of by chopping the leg and gaining the momentum for his team.
- Somerset tries to fight back, to no avail as the Rat Bastards continue to target the left leg of one half of the tag team champions. Somerset is finally able to tag in the fresh Azure and Azure cleans house of the Rat Bastards. Collins calls for Azure to tag in Somerset, which Azure is unsure about but does it anyway.
- Somerset makes his way into the ring and takes out both members of the Rat Bastards. However, you can see how much pain he is in, and the Rat Bastards quickly capitalize on that. With Zander Torres and Kirkland still in control, they hit their finishing move on Somerset, but it gets broken up by Azure.
- Somerset tries to roll up Torres but only gets a two-count. Kirkland grabs a chair from the outside and makes his way into the ring. Security Inc makes the save and takes the chair away from Kirkland. This allows Torres to put on a pair of brass knuckles to try to hit Somerset with. Johnny Collins attempts to hit Torres with the championship belt, but ends up knocking out Somerset, which allows Torres to pick up the victory as Security Inc chase the Rat Bastards out of the building.
After the match, Collins is distraught as Azure checks on Somerset. Johnny Collins inadvertently cost his own teammates their tag team gold. Azure and Somerset leave under their own power, as fans are stunned at what just transpired.
Anthony Gangone def. Alvin Alvarez by Submission
- Anthony Gangone makes his way down to the ring first, accompanied by Silk E. Smooth. Alvin Alvarez comes out next and quickly faces off with Smooth. This leads to Gangone attacking Alvarez from behind. However, Alvarez would quickly change that tune, and beat up on Gangone on the outside of the ring.
- The match finally begins in the ring when Gangone takes Alvarez off his feet thanks to a distraction by Smooth. Gangone controls the match, continuing to beat down Alvarez while using under-handed tactics. Gangone locks in the guillotine on Alvarez to try to choke out the big man, but Alvarez won’t go down that easily.
- Alvarez fights back into the match, hitting a back body drop on Gangone and regaining a lot of the momentum. Gangone hits a running knee to the face of Alvarez who is on the mat for just a two-count. Gangone low-blows Alvarez and locks in his submission hold that costs Alvarez to tap out.
After the match, Adam Cain comes out to the entranceway and stares down Alvarez. Gangone, Smooth, and Cain leave together celebrating. Cain Industries stands tall, can anyone stop this seemingly unstoppable group?
FIRST OR LAST FATAL FOURWAY MATCH
Dante Drago def. Marvelous, Brother Greatness, and Adam Cain
- The match starts off with Brother Greatness hyping up the crowd with his “Not Today Satan” chants. Dante Drago tries to become best friends with everyone in the match to try to gain some help in the match. Unfortunately for him, this doesn’t work as the other three competitors quickly take him out. Kevin Fulton along with some doctors check on Drago’s shoulder, which is seemingly injured, and he walks to the back.
- Brother Greatness and Adam Cain square off, with Greatness gaining the upper hand taking the big man off his feet. Unfortunately for Greatness, Marvelous is waiting behind him and the two square off in the ring. While Greatness and Marvelous look to be having fun, Cain attacks Greatness from behind.
- Marvelous and Cain work together to beat down Greatness. Marvelous attempts to roll up Cain for a pin, but Cain kicks out. Quickly ending their time teaming up together. Cain beats down Marvelous and is in firm control of the match. However, when Greatness rejoins the fray, he and Marvelous work together to take down the big man.
- However, this partnership doesn’t last long as Marvelous once again tries to pin Greatness from behind. Out of nowhere, Drago makes his way back down to the ring, and hits his finishing move on Marvelous to win the match.
After the match, Drago celebrates in the ring with his paddle. Greatness gets in his face and asks what happened to his arm, Drago turns out to be faking the injury. Kevin Fulton meets Drago in the ring and hands him his envelope for the Gold Rush Rumble. Drago says that there should be two envelopes because Dr. Cool is not a star.
Drago says he will win the Gold Rush Rumble and Drago is the best. Dr. Cool makes his way down to the ring holding his envelope. Dr. Cool says that he actually won his match, while Drago took the cowards way out. The fans call Drago a coward and Drago challenges Dr. Cool to open his envelope.
Dr. Cool accepts and says he got the “coolest number ever.” Drago says he knew Dr. Cool never had the makings to be a star anyways because he’s a fake doctor with a fake degree. Dr. Cool trades with Drago and it’s revealed that Dante has now drawn #1 in the Rumble. Dr. Cool announces no trade backs. This leads to Drago attacking Dr. Cool with the paddle to stand tall.
NEW YORK STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Champion Leo Sparrow def. Bobby Orlando
- Leo Sparrow enters the arena first, and he is met with boo’s right off the bat. Bobby Orlando makes his way down to the ring next, and the fans are firmly behind the GOATEST. Orlando and Sparrow have a taunt-off with some championship belts. Orlando gets the most cheers, and it’s not close.
- The match starts off with Orlando egging the crowd on to call Sparrow “Peter Pan.” Sparrow moves to the outside of the ring and fights with some fans. Sparrow challenges Orlando to a test of strength competition. Orlando plays with Sparrow a little bit, which just annoys Sparrow. Orlando quickly takes Sparrow off his feet with a dropkick and follows that up with an attempted dive outside the ring. However, thanks to the spinach to the face, Sparrow gains the upper hand, when Orlando misses the dive.
- Orlando regains the upper hand pretty quickly on the outside of the ring. However, when the two moved inside the ring, Sparrow took a cheap shot to change the trajectory of the match. Sparrow uses his wrist tape to choke out Orlando, using some under handed tactics to get ahead.
- Sparrow attempts a moonsault, but Orlando is able to move out of the way. This creates an opening for Orlando, and he fights back into the match. Despite a valiant effort, ultimately a rake to the eyes, and a pinfall wins it for Leo Sparrow.
VPW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
Champion Valentina Vasquez def. Valerie Verman via disqualification to retain
- Valerie Verman makes her way down to the ring first, accompanied by Samwell Thompson ready for her Victory Pro Wrestling debut. The Victory Pro Wrestling Women’s Champion, Valentina Vasquez makes her way down to the ring next, and looks to be the clear fan favorite.
- The match starts off with a kiss from Verman to Thompson, and Thompson calls for two more. Vasquez attacks Verman from behind on the second one and quickly takes her down to the mat. Verman hit a shoulder block on Vasquez to gain some momentum, but it was short-lived as Valentina quickly regained control in the match.
- Thompson trips Vasquez to create an opening for Verman, and it works. Verman has firm control of the match. After some more back-and-forth wrestling, Verman would try to get Vasquez disqualified by faking getting hit with her bag. Despite an impressive debut, ultimately it would be Vasquez who outsmarted Verman, by faking getting hit with the championship belt, winning by DQ.
Jack Tomlinson and Kaide Lothbrok def. Bryce Donovan and VPW Champion Eric James
- Kaide and Jack Tomlinson make their way down to the ring first for the massive tag team main event. - Kaide and Tomlinson continue to beat down the Victory Pro Wrestling Champion as Donovan looks on. Finally, Donovan makes his way into the match and takes out both Tomlinson and Kaide. Donovan calls for a chokeslam, but Tomlinson reverses it, and with help from Kaide, the two are able to get the best of Donovan.
- Donovan tries to fight back time-and-time again, to no avail. However, Bryce is finally able to hit a massive sidewalk slam on Tomlinson to get back into the match. James enters the match hot and takes Kaide off his feet. James calls for a high risk move and connects with an elbow drop while holding onto the ceiling.
- James hits a massive springboard cutter on both Tomlinson and Kaide and pins Kaide for just a two-count. James accidentally takes out the referee with a superkick and all hell breaks loose. James and Tomlinson finally face off in the match and this sees James gain the upper hand. James hits a tiger bomb on Tomlinson and follows that up with his finishing move, but the ref is knocked down and can’t count the pin.
- Tomlinson hits James over the head with a chair and beats him down with it. Tomlinson gets the ref up in time and pins James to pick up the victory for his team.
After the match, the defeated James gets on the mic and says Tomlinson can get another shot at the belt next month in a singles match with just two conditions. The first is that if Jack loses when the two meet next month, he will never get another chance at the title as long as Eric James holds the belt.
The second condition is that their match next month will be a table’s match. Tomlinson accepts. Donovan sends he will win the Gold Rush Rumble. Dante Drago, and Kaide jump Bryce Donovan, but Dr. Cool makes the save. All hell breaks loose when Sparrow makes his way down to the ring and attacks Bryce Donovan with the belt.
