VPW Insanity lived up to its name with one of the most controversial match endings in Victory Pro Wrestling history.
Bryce Donovan opened the show and spoke about how he was the first person Jack Tomlinson saw on his first day of training. He says that Tomlinson isn’t the same kid he used to be and invites him out to the ring.
Tomlinson answers and walks down to the ring and comes face-to-face with his opponent for the main event. Donovan tells Tomlinson that although he’s wrestled a lot of the top “TV talent” around today, he’s focused on the wrong things like TikTok and social media, as opposed to wrestling.
Donovan tells Tomlinson that he still believes in him, and that Tomlinson can still reach stardom, but it won’t happen the way Tomlinson is headed. He tells Jack to do the right thing tonight and extends his hand. Tomlinson gives him a hug instead but uses it as a tactic to low-blow him.
Dante Drago makes his way down to the ring and the two take out Bryce. Tomlinson wraps a chair around the knee of Bryce and hits him with another chair, injuring his knee ahead of their big main event match tonight.
DEZMOND COLE def. HAYDEN BACKLUND
- Hayden Backlund, who is making his Victory Pro Wrestling debut, has a tough task ahead of him in the former Victory Pro Wrestling New York State Champion, Dezmond Cole. The match starts with a feeling out process between the two men. Cole challenges Backlund to show his best dance moves, but Backlund uses this as a chance to try to kick Cole in the gut, but it doesn’t work, and Cole sends Backlund to the outside to regroup.
- Hayden Backlund uses the referee to his advantage and lands a kick to the gut of the former New York State Champion. He then drops Cole neck first on the top rope and gains all the control of this match.
- Cole is able to fight back into the match and land a rolling leg drop on Backlund for the two-count. Ultimately, after more great back-and-forth action, Cole is victorious after he lands his finishing move on Backlund.
THE WORKING CLASS def. THE WILD BOYS
- The Wild Boys attack The Working Class from behind to start the match. When the referee gets a hold of things, The Sweeper and Tristian Kyle begin the match for their respective teams. However, Will Straus distracts The Sweeper leading to Kyle hitting him with a big boot and gaining the upper hand.
- Sweeper is finally able to tag in his partner, and Diego cleans house. However, Kyle is able to subdue Diego and keep The Wild Boys on top in this match up. However, Diego is able to fight back once again and tag in Sweeper to finish the job.
- Sweeper takes out everyone and just as it looks like Kyle is going to hit him with a hammer, he ducks, and Kyle lands a shot with the hammer on his own tag team partner. This sends Straus down to the ground and opens the door for Working Class to hit their finisher on Kyle and win the match.
NEW YORK STATE CHAMPIONSHIP CHAMPION
DANTE DRAGO def. THE IGNITING DYNAMITE JJ DOZE
- This match starts out with a feeling out process of sorts between Dante Drago and his opponent, a very game J.J. Doze. However, Drago is very quickly able to get the upper hand as he sends Doze into the middle rope neck first.
- After Drago controls the match for quite some time, Doze and Drago square off in the middle of the ring exchanging lefts and rights. This leads to Doze hitting a middle rope cross body on to Drago and firing himself up.
- Ultimately, after more great back and forth action, Marvelous makes his way down to the ring and distracts Doze. This leads to Drago hitting a big flapjack, and a shining wizard onto Doze for the three counts to retain his title.
After the match, all hell broke loose with Marvelous and his monster God of Dad Bod, the Body Snatchers, attacking Doze. However, El Magnifico makes the save for Doze and stands tall as the Body Snatchers were escorted out of the ring.
CAIN INDUSTRIES def. QGTM
Silk E. Smooth grabs a mic and says that anyone with working eyes can see that Cain industries is not out in full force. He then brings out the returning KJ Mack, and it will be KJ Mack and Adam Cain taking on Pat Fitzpatrick and Jay Mesias.
- Cain and Mesias began the match for their teams. Mesias and Fitzpatrick do a great job at controlling Adam Cain in the early going of this match, but eventually, after Cain is able to tag in Mack, Cain makes a blind tag and attacks Mesias from behind to gain control of the match.
- After a beating at the hands of Cain, Mesias is finally able to tag in Fitzpatrick and he takes out both members of Cain Industries. However, thanks to a distraction from Anthony Gangone, KJ Mack is able to pin Mesias after he and Cain hit a double team move to win the match.
After the match, Gangone complained that Eric James wasn’t able to be there tonight because he was scared. Sinn Bodhi makes his way out to ringside and challenges Gangone to a match.
SINN BODHI def DR SLEEP ANTHONY GANGONE
- With the crowd firmly behind Bodhi, the two lock into a collar-elbow tie-up and move all around the ring and ringside without letting go. With neither man giving an inch, Bodhi is finally able to hit a slam on Gangone and gain some momentum in the match. However, it was short lived.
- Adam Cain and KJ Mack get involved and switch the tides of the match. Gangone does a good job of controlling Bodhi and not letting him fight back, but ultimately, Bodhi is able to fight back and hit a Sister Abigail on Gangone to win the match.
VPW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP CHAMPIONS
THE RAT BASTARDS def THE EVEN STEVENS
- The crowd was firmly behind the Even Stevens as they were able to welcome Stephen Azure back from jaw surgery as he made his return last night. Steve Somerset and Zander Torres started the match for their respective teams. After a feeling out process, Azure gets tagged in and takes the fight to Adam Kirkland.
- Thanks to a distraction by Kirkland, Torres is able to get the best of Somerset and control the match for the Rat Bastards. They do a good job at keeping Somerset away from his partner, but Somerset is finally able to tag in Azure.
- Azure comes in hot and lands a big spinebuster on Kirkland and sends Torres packing to the outside of the ring. After some more great back-and-forth tag team action, Somerset thought he had the match won by making Kirkland tap out, but Kirkland wasn’t the legal man. Ultimately, Torres would roll up Somerset to retain their titles.
VPW WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP CHAMPION
THE UNWILTING TATIANA def NAHIR ROBLES and THE CENTER OF ATTENTION BRITTNIE BROOKS
- After some trash talking between the three women to start the match, Brittnie Brooks and The Unwilting Tatiana send Nahir Robles to the outside and square off in the ring. After a little while, Robles makes her way back into the ring to break up a pinfall and sends Tatiana to the outside.
- Robles gets the better of Brooks and when all three women are once again in the ring, Silk E. Smooth comes out to ringside to scout some talent. Brooks hits a big springboard elbow drop on Tatiana.
- Ultimately, after some more great triple threat action, Tatiana hits her finisher on Robles to retain her Victory Pro Wrestling Women’s Championship.
- After the match, Brooks and Tatiana shake hands and indicate that a one-on-one rematch could be on the horizon someday soon.
Evil Kip makes his way down to the ring complaining that he doesn’t have a match, but this draws Phil Cardigan’s attention, and he interrupts Kip. Cardigan challenges Kip to a match and says it’s time that things between them end once and for all.
Cardigan even goes as far as to call Kip and “Evil Chicken.” He tells Kip that he wants to end things right here, and right now. Kip says no and he doesn’t want to waste his time anymore on Cardigan.
Kip tries to sucker punch Cardigan, but Cardigan ducks and sends Kip packing over the top rope. Cardigan says things will end between them and says on December 9th, he wants Kip in a No Holds Barred match.
VICTORY PRO WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP
BRYCE DONOVAN def. CHAMPION JACK TOMLINSON
** NEW CHAMPION **
- Bryce Donovan makes his way out limping, showing the effects of the attack to kick off the night by Drago and Tomlinson. The match starts off quickly with Jack Tomlinson and Donovan brawling all around ringside. Tomlinson quickly targets the knee of Donovan to gain the upper hand of the matchup.
- Tomlinson sports Donovan’s “SHOOK” headband and mocks him while continuing to beat down Donovan. Tomlinson locks in a submission hold on the knee of Donovan, but Donovan was able to get out of it.
- Tomlinson tries to lock Donovan’s legs around the ring post, but Donovan sends him head first into the post and buys himself some time. When Tomlinson regains his bearings, he attempts a springboard move, but Donovan catches him with a punch and regains his momentum.
- Donovan gets hung up on the top rope by Tomlinson. After some more great back-and-forth wrestling, Tomlinson superkicks senior official Steven Dumeng by accident, leading to Donovan landing a big chokeslam and pinning him as the audience counted past what would have been the three-count.
- Dante Drago gets involved once again and tries to help Tomlinson beat down Donovan. Tomlinson uses the paddle and clocks Donovan over the head with it. He lands a big DDT on Donovan as Drago runs and gets official John Ryan, but only gets a two-count.
- Tomlinson accidentally knocks out Drago and Donovan catches an irate Tomlinson with a superkick. Tomlinson once again accidentally knocks out the second referee and lands a low blow on Donovan. However, this doesn’t affect Donovan too much as he sends Tomlinson face first into a chair set up in the corner and hits him with a choke slam to pin him for the three-count.
- As Donovan is celebrating with the Victory Pro Wrestling Championship, Steven Dumeng says he saw Donovan send Tomlinson face first into the chair and reverses the decision. Meanwhile, John Ryan continues to acknowledge Bryce Donovan as the winner as he counted the pinfall.
- This draws Victory Pro Wrestling Commissioner Kevin Fulton and Victory Pro Wrestling owner, John Radio down to ringside to try to clear things up as Donovan is ordered to return the title back to Tomlinson by Dumeng.
- Donovan wasn’t done there, he lands a massive chokeslam on Tomlinson and leaves with the belt. The war between these two men seems to be far from over.
