When Shook Crew became Victory Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champions at VPW Under Pressure 2022, fans expected them to hold the championships for a long time. And at 245 days they did just that.
However, in that time frame they only defended the championships twice. At the 2022 Showdown in Saint James they defended the titles against the School of Cool, and at the 2022 Gold Rush Rumble they successfully defended the championships against the Even Stevens.
At an event in Massachusetts, Bryce Donovan suffered an injury to his hand, disqualifying him from competing. This injury kept him out of action and forced VPW Commissioner Kevin Fulton to make an unpopular decision and vacate the championships.
Now former tag team champion Bobby Orlando had this to say with VictoryProWrestling.com: “We wanted to be recognized as fighting champions, but with Bryce getting hurt, it’s only fair we give these up now.”
Commissioner Fulton announced at VPW Notorious that the winners of the Even Stevens vs Marvelous/Jafar match and the winners of the Rat Bastards vs Security Inc would meet at VPW Blood Sweat and 17 Years when Victory Pro Wrestling returns to Bay Shore, with the winners being crowned as the next VPW Tag Team Championships.
Security Inc was able to take down the Rat Bastards in a match that showcased a more energetic force than we have seen before. Officer Ronnie Moses of Security Inc said this: “Now that we have put the Rat Bastards in lockdown, it’s time to secure and protect the VPW Tag Team Championships.”
Their opponents in April, the Even Stevens, were able to defeat the debuting Marvelous and Jafar. Stephen Azure said this: “Now that we’ve beaten everyone’s favorite Disney villains, it’s time to become 2-time VPW Tag Team Champions.”
At VPW Power Grab 2022, Security Inc met the Even Stevens for the first time. Malcom Murray was handcuffed in that match, allowing the Stevens to steal the victory.
At VPW Disorderly Conduct 2022, Security Inc picked up the victory against the Even Stevens, with the winners to become the top contenders to the VPW Tag Team Championships, held at the time by Shook Crew.
With a 1-and-1 record, it’s up in the air as to who will win. Can the Even Stevens become 2-time VPW Tag Team Champions, or will Security Inc protect and serve as the next tag team champions?
