In 2009, the first ever Gold Rush Rumble decided the first ever New York State champion.
Five years later, Kevin Tibbs wants to defend the New York State championship as part of the Gold Rush Rumble when Victory Pro Wrestling returns to Deer Park.
“I’ve done everything in Victory Pro Wrestling except one,” screamed Tibbs at Carnage in Centereach IX. He vows to successfully defend the New York State Championship and win the Gold Rush Rumble.
Should he do so, he would be the only wrestler in Victory Pro Wrestling to achieve such a feat. In fact, he would be, if successful, the first wrestler to ever win the King of New York, the VPW Tag Team Championship, the New York State Championship, the VPW Championship, and win the Gold Rush Rumble.
It won’t be an easy task, though. He challenged the VPW locker room to face him, and out came the locker room, lead by the 260 pound VPW newcomer Ahtu, fan favorite Jorge Santi, and The Zombie, among others.
Kevin Tibbs is only one of two wrestlers to have participated in every Gold Rush Rumble since 2009. Is this year truly the year of Tibbs?
