The Best of Three series for the Victory Pro Wrestling championship between champion EJ Risk and challenger Mister Tibbs has taken an interesting turn.
VPW Commissioner Kevin Fulton made this series to prove who truly is the best, with the winner of the fall determining a special stipulation for the next match. For Monster Mash October 27 in Centereach, EJ Risk chose the stipulation to be a Submissions match.
“I have never submitted to Mister Tibbs,” said the champion. “He may tell you otherwise, but let’s look at the way the match ended. Did I lose? Did I tap out? Or was my hand raised high? Exactly.”
Technically, EJ Risk is correct. The match ended by pinfall and EJ Risk did take the first fall. But with the official knocked out in the corner, Mister Tibbs locked in an armbar and EJ Risk did tap out.
This doesn’t change the fact that at the end of the night, Tibbs is fighting an uphill battle. To become champion, he must win at Monster Mash and again at November’s Disorderly Conduct 2.
