Victory Pro Wrestling’s 12 year anniversary show featured Eric James capturing the Victory Pro Wrestling championship, but it also featured the debut of two new VPW talents.
It was at the March show in 2018 where Alvin Alvarez would make his VPW debut in a losing effort against Coach Mammone. The match ended with Mammone wrapping up Alvarez in a small package to secure the win.
The show also featured the debut of Bryce Donovan. Teaming with Johnny Collins for the first time ever, the two faced #TeamAdams in a losing effort with the then-VPW Tag Team Champions retaining the titles.
Donovan and Collins would eventually capture the tag team championships, and Alvarez would enter a feud with Stockade later in the year.
Alvarez wanted to become a champion and in 2019 saw the Cat and Cop Connection as the team to beat, but he needed a partner. He found the Giant Andre who had been having a rough year. His manager Jacob Hendrix was banned from VPW in a Deportation Match featuring Mister Tibbs. Alvarez and Andre hit it off as one of the most dominant tag teams in VPW. Eventually, the two would become VPW Tag Team Champions at the 2020 King of New York, just months before the pandemic.
At the 2019 Gold Rush Rumble, the GOATEST of all time Bobby Orlando made his VPW debut. His appearances were entertaining, but he would not be picking up the winning end of the purse. However, he did score a win at Disorderly Conduct inside the confines of a steel cage match that was scheduled for Collins to meet Donovan. Instead, Collins had the Even Stevens replace him in what Collins thought would be a 2-on-1 encounter. Donovan called his best friend Bobby Orlando to even the odds.
Outside of VPW, Orlando and Donovan are known as Shook Crew, along with Platinum Max Caster. But that night, they were not billed as Shook Crew, just two competitors teaming up to face a greater evil. This would be the only time they would team up in Victory Pro Wrestling until VPW 143: Homecoming in July 2021.
And after earning the right to face the Absolute Brand at VPW 144: Gold Rush Rumble, it’s time to see if Shook Crew can uncrown the Absolute Brand.
