The Gold Rush Rumble is one of Victory Pro Wrestling’s most prestigious matches. The winner earns the right to challenge for any active Victory Pro Wrestling championship.
The match itself is an over-the-top-rope gauntlet style battle royal featuring 20 competitors – male or female – with everyone’s eyes on the VPW Tag Team Championship, the VPW New York State Championship, the Victory Pro Wrestling Women’s Championship, or the Victory Pro Wrestling Championship.
At VPW’s Battle in Bay Shore, there will be two “First-or-Last” matches, with the winner drawing one of two envelopes. Inside one of those envelopes will be the coveted No. 20. The other will hold the dreaded No. 1.
“The Gold Rush Rumble has always been a match filled with surprises,” said VPW owner John Radioo. “In 2018, the VPW faithful were shocked when entering the rumble was Kaide Lothbrok, so you never know what will happen or who will show up.”
Winners of previous Gold Rush Rumble matches include VSK, Kevin Fulton, Fighter Cat and Ricky Reyes, each choosing to challenge for the New York State Championship. VSK won a second time, and then challenged for the VPW Tag Team Championships. Mister Tibbs, Coach Mammone, and Mike Anthony chose to challenge for the Victory Pro Wrestling Championship after they secured the Gold Rush Rumble victory.
“We are inclusive, as each championship has value,” said Radioo, “so as we have in the last couple of years, no participant will be excluded due to their gender.”
Radioo was referring to Megan Mason, who entered the 2021 and 2022 Gold Rush Rumble events.
The question remains about the “First-or-Last” matches, namely the participants. “Our team will be revealing on social media this weekend the participants for these two contests.”
