At VPW Summer Showdown, Bryce Donovan came off a win against the Silver Sniper TJ Crawford to retain the Victory Pro Wrestling championship. Bryce then addressed someone who had, earlier in the night, called out the champ – Da Big Boofa Dezmond Cole.
The Artist Jake Lang gave Dezmond Cole a fight, but Da Big Boofa picked up the win. After his match, Cole addressed the crowd, stating that he was looking for gold. With the VPW Faithful chanting for the New York State Championship, Cole had a different goal. “It’s been six long years, and it’s about damn time we hear ‘And new, Victory Pro Wrestling champion, Da Big Boofa Dezmond Cole!’ “
So when Bryce Donovan called out Dezmond Cole, Dezmond Cole did not hesitate. The two time New York State Champion went face to face with the current and reigning Victory Pro Wrestling champion. The Bay Shore crowd was excited to see Cole and Donovan shake hands until Leo Sparrow came to interrupt.
“Do you think you can just say you want to be champion and get a title shot,” Leo asked Dezmond. “No. If you want something, you have to take action.”
To which Leo Sparrow kicked Bryce Donovan below the belt. Dezmond Cole and Leo Sparrow started to go at it. Leo Sparrow was then attacked from behind by Eric James, who hit him with a street sign.
Leo Sparrow left the ring, Eric James picked up the Victory Pro Wrestling championship, and Dezmond Cole tried to take it away from him, before Bryce Donovan reclaimed his title.
Donovan then demanded a fatal four way match against Leo Sparrow, Eric James, and Bryce Donovan at VPW’s Battle in Bay Shore.
“I said this to Jack Tomlinson, and I’ll say this to you Bryce,” said the owner John E Radio, after granting the match. “Be careful what you wish for.”
Ominous words from the owner of Victory Pro Wrestling, words that stung Jack Tomlinson and cost him his championship in November of 2023. Will Donovan be able to retain, or will we have a new champion in July?
