Early on in their wrestling careers, before Johnny “Pretty Boy” Collins was one half of the Victory Pro Wrestling tag team champions and before Coach Mammone was VPW’s 2018 Rookie of the Year, Mammone and Collins were friends.
In fact, before joining VPW they trained together as a tag team. But upon their arrival in VPW, Mammone and Collins went their own ways.
During the Covid 19 pandemic with VPW on pause, Johnny Collins’ Twitter account was very active. He continuously stated that his value was under estimated and called out VPW Champion Coach Mammone to anyone who would listen.
These challenges were met with a curtain of silence, that is until VPWs virtual event Championship Glory when Mammone said during an interview: “As a little guy, I think [Collins] is over looked a lot. He has a whole lot of fight in him. He speaks a lot but backs it up at the same time.”
The VPW Champion concluded by saying, “I think a whole lot of people don’t respect him a whole bunch, but he gets in the ring and gets the job done.”
At July’s Homecoming event, the first wrestling event on Long Island since VPW’s Blood Sweat and 14 Year anniversary show in March of 2020, Mammone sustained a head injury at the hands of Kaide Lothbrok and Beau Sullivan.
One month later, Collins effectively stole the Gold Rush Rumble from VSK and 18 other participants to secure a future title opportunity at any championship of his choice.
This puts former friends on a collision course.
At Never Forget on September 11, Coach Mammone answered the call to Johnny Collins, but is he 100 percent ready? Or will Johnny Collins fulfill his self-proclaimed prophecy?
We will find out when Mammone and Collins have a Showdown in St. James for the Victory Pro Wrestling Championship.
