We are days away from VPW 159: Notorious, and there has been talk of change from the upper management of Victory Pro Wrestling.
“As we begin the 2023 season,” VPW owner John E Radioo said, “we plan on focusing on what made Victory Pro Wrestling the go-to show on Long Island.”
That focus, according to Radioo, is on the fan experience.
“We have always given the fans the kind of show that brings friends and families together. Some of our fans grew up with VPW,” said Radioo. “This is the show you want to take your children to.”
Radioo continued, “It’s not just the fans that grew up with us. Steve Somerset would come to our shows in Deer Park with his family long before he put on wrestling gear. Percy Ryan and Dezmond Cole would wrestle each other in high school hallways and come to our Centereach shows with dreams of one day being pro wrestlers.”
It’s more than that for owner of VPW. “When I first came to VPW as a ring announcer in 2011, I had no idea this would be such a phenomenal program,” states Radioo. “The last two years have been a learning experience transitioning from ring announcer to owner, but with the support of VPW Management and an incredible roster, it’s worth it.”
Noting the support of VPW Commissioner Kevin Fulton and the rest of the management team, Radioo also noted there was change on the horizon.
“We already revealed the new logo for VPW. With it comes a promise of change,” says Radioo. “This new look comes with a heavy burden, because this is our new identity. Our new badge of honor, and a symbol of our growth.”
When asked what he meant by that, Radioo stated that VPW Notorious is the start of a new era for VPW, one that will focus on talent and give the roster a chance to take control of their paths. “We’ve already started this path when we came back at VPW Homecoming 2021.”
“We’ve made mistakes,” admits Radioo. “We’ve learned from them. I’ve also met with different promoters from other brands in the tri-state area and learned from them as well.”
Victory Pro Wrestling has introduced new stars to the VPW Faithful since 2021, including Adam Cain, Brother Greatness, Dr Cool, Pat Fitz Patrick, The Rat Bastards, Security Inc, and Valentina Vasquez. Radioo promises to keep the doors open to introduce more new stars in the future, as well.
“This weekend The Notorious Mimi is coming to VPW for the first time, and she’s not coming alone.” Radioo notes that along with Mimi will be Marvelous, Jafar, and Travis Jacobs.
“The enigma that is Zakk Ramses will make his debut as well,” says Radioo. “Zakk and I have been talking on and off for almost a year, and now’s the right time to bring in the Miasma.”
“We’ve been in contact with some big names on the indie scene, and we are hoping to bring in more talent while still preserving the quality Victory Pro Wrestling has worked hard to earn, not just to our fans but the independent wrestling community.”
