Historically, Victory Pro Wrestling’s King of New York tournament designed to crown royalty, a competitor so tough they could wrestle three times in the same night against some of the top stars in the Northeast and come out on top.
EJ Risk rose above 11 other competitors in 2011 to be the first ever King of New York. In the finals against Kevin Tibbs – known then as “K-Funk” – Risk made history in Deer Park.
In 2012, Risk made history again, again defeating Kevin Tibbs in the finals, this time thanks to a confusion caused by ConfluxXx leader Ricky Reyes that ended up with a VsK super kick into Kevin Tibbs’ face.
One year later, on his way to claim the crown again, EJ Risk fell victim to more ConfluxXx shenanigans, this time on the receiving end of the cheating ways of Ricky Reyes as the distraction from the leader gave Jay Delta the chance to win the tournament and steal the crown.
And now we go into the fourth King of New York tournament, an opportunity to crown once again the best wrestler in the Northeast in a special, one night tournament to determine who will be the new King of New York.
The twist with this year’s tournament – the winner will not only be the new King of New York, but he will also be the number one contender to the Victory Pro Wrestling championship at the 8 year anniversary show in March.
