The VPW New York State Championship was introduced in 2009, and at the first ever Gold Rush Rumble, Nick Noshus was crowned the first New York State champion.
It’s an over-the-top rope gauntlet battle royal with the winner challenging for any championship in Victory Pro Wrestling of their choosing.
Eliminations occur after being thrown over the top rope and both feet touching the mat until we get to the final four. At that point, it turns into a fatal-four-way match where eliminations occur via pinfall or submission.
Since 2009, it has become an annual event that elevated the stock of VPW stars into the stratosphere, giving them the right to call themselves the winner of the Gold Rush Rumble. Ricky Reyes, Kevin Fulton, Eric James, and Mister Tibbs have all won the Gold Rush Rumble. VSK won twice.
Coach Mammone win in 2019. Three months later he would win the VPW Championship as a result.
The playing field is still be set but the goal remains the same.
