Fighter Cat stepped in the ring as the defending New York State champion with a 588 reign.
That came crashing down as he was unable to overcome the odds and the numbers game that ConfluxXx threw at him at the 2018 King of New York.
New champion Jay Delta, along with Kevin Fulton, were fired up about his victory after the show, despite the fact that Fulton’s distraction may have cost Fighter Cat the match. Delta even going on record to declare himself not as the New York State champion, but as “Grand Slam King.”
His claim has merit, as Delta is a former VPW Tag Team champion, three times in fact as a part of Eclipse. He is also a former VPW Champion, holding the top prize for 161 days in 2016. Now, he has won the New York State Championship to complete the Grand Slam designation. Add to that his two King of New York crowns from 2013 and 2016, and it’s hard to not recognize his claim.
Delta joins VSK, Kevin Tibbs, and Ricky Reyes as the fourth member of the VPW Grand Slam club, putting him among the elite in Victory Pro Wrestling, but his arrogance may be short lived.
Fighter Cat, as the former champion, has the right to claim his rematch. Will he do so at the first ever Queen of New York? Or will he lick his wounds and come back to fight another day.
