Wrestling fans want to know – when will Victory Pro Wrestling return?
The answer starts with the New York State Governor’s office and when they start re-opening local businesses. Governor Andrew Cuomo is looking to open up New York by region based on metrics:
- Metric #1: Decline in Total Hospitalizations
- Metric #2: Decline in Deaths
- Metric #3: New Hospitalizations
- Metric #4: Hospital Bed Capacity
- Metric #5: ICU Bed Capacity
- Metric #6: Diagnostic Testing Capacity
- Metric #7: Contact Tracing Capacity
As of May 15, Long Island is not ready to open. We meet many of the metrics, but not all seven.
As a result, it’s likely that reopening on Long Island will begin in mid-June.
There are four phases, each with a two-week window to evaluate whether COVID-19 is back on the rise and to determine if the region is ready to open up the next phase. Professional wrestling will likely fall into Phase Four:
- Arts / Entertainment / Recreation
- Education
If Long Island can open in June and COVID-19 is kept at bay, then Phase Four should start around the end of July.
That brings us back to the question fans are asking: When will Victory Pro Wrestling return?
That’s not an easy question to answer. First, we have to coordinate our schedule with our Centereach hosts. Then we have to reach out to the roster, medical team, officials, and VPW support staff. Once that’s done, we have to spread the word online and on the streets to let you know we’re back.
We are excited to return, but we don’t want to rush back just for the sake of rushing back, and we don’t want to have spread false hope by posting a date that we cannot meet. As we have from the very beginning, we are continuously reviewing and evaluating all the information provided by local and state authorities, as well as the requirements as suggested by the CDC. This is not just for the safety of the show, but for our fans.
